Primo y Beebe
Back in 2012, David Beebe was managing the iconic restaurant/bar known as “Padre’s” in Marfa. Wednesdays at Padre’s were dead in the water, especially Wednesday afternoons. Tasked with the job of finding some live music suitable for happy hour entertainment, Freedom Records A&R rep Jason Kolker asked local retired Southern Pacific Railroad man Remijio “Primo” Carrasco if he would be willing to play some music onstage for tips, burgers, and a tequila or two.
What began as an experiment caught on pretty quickly, as Primo had never had a regular venue in which to perform and was known only to a few as an accomplished border music singer. Locals of all ages and backgrounds packed the bar. David Beebe soon handed off kitchen duties and joined Primo onstage to play bass.
Nearly a decade later, Primo y Beebe have played all around the Big Bend region of Texas, with regular engagements in Marfa especially. They have a song list numbering just under 100 and perform for events of all types, from festivals and clubs to parties and parades.
Freedom Records of Austin Texas proudly released their debut album, “Primo y Beebe” in December 2020. The recording is available on multiple digital platforms as well as CD.
